UK and Ireland accountancy group Azets has acquired Alextra, a well-established accountancy practice based in the North West of England, adding approximately 70 employees and three offices across Stoke-on-Trent, Crewe, and Warrington to its network of more than 70 UK offices.

International Accounting Bulletin reported that Alextra's teams across all three locations will join Azets under the terms of the deal, with the business to be rebranded under the Azets name. Alextra's Wealth Management division is excluded from the transaction and will continue independently as Hexagon Wealth Management.

Alextra's existing senior team will remain following the change of ownership, with director Mathew Weaver appointed as office managing partner for the Stoke-on-Trent, Crewe, and Warrington sites within Azets.

Azets UK and Ireland CEO Peter Gallanagh said: "We are thrilled to welcome Alextra to Azets. They are a high-performing, well-respected practice with a hugely talented team, and have a history of providing excellent support to SMEs both locally and across the country. Alextra will be the bridge between the Midlands and North West for Azets and the team there share our approach to supporting and developing our people, our belief in first-rate client service, and our ambition to grow and evolve as a business."

Weaver said joining Azets will help the firm with its plans to scale and grow, adding that it will benefit from access to broader infrastructure, capability, and support while maintaining its client-focused approach and local presence.

The acquisition follows Azets's recent appointment of Edith Yagoh as audit and assurance partner in Birmingham, and continues the firm's active expansion across the UK and Ireland.
