International accountancy and advisory firm Azets Ireland has acquired Dublin-based Outsource, a provider of outsourced financial management, bookkeeping and consultancy services to legal practices across Ireland, as reported by the Irish Independent. The acquisition deepens Azets' specialist capability in the legal sector and advances its stated ambition to become Ireland's leading independent provider of specialist business advisory services.

Outsource was founded in 2000 and is led by David Rowe and Donal Maher, both of whom will remain with the business following the transaction. The firm will relocate to Azets' Dublin office as part of the integration.

Neil Hughes, CEO of Azets Ireland, said Outsource had established an excellent reputation within the legal sector and built strong, trusted relationships with clients, and added: "This acquisition strengthens our specialist capability in an important growth market and creates exciting opportunities to bring the breadth of Azets' services to Outsource clients, while further enhancing our offering to legal firms across Ireland. David, Donal and the team are a strong cultural fit for Azets and we are delighted to welcome them to the business."

Rowe said joining Azets would allow the business to offer clients access to a broader range of specialist expertise and services, and added that he was excited about the opportunities the combination creates for clients, people and the future development of the business.

The acquisition follows Azets' announcement earlier in June 2026 of its expansion into Northern Ireland through the acquisition of Belfast-based accountancy and advisory firm Muldoon, which employs more than 40 staff. Azets entered the Irish market in 2023 following its takeover of Baker Tilly Ireland.

Since launching in Ireland, the firm has completed a series of acquisitions, adding Dublin firms Carey Cooney and PKF O'Connor, Leddy & Holmes, before moving into Northern Ireland and now acquiring Outsource. Azets group was created through a 2016 three-way merger of Visma BPO, Blick Rothenberg and Baldwins, and is now active across eight countries and 190 offices, with significant operations across the UK and Nordic region.

The pace of Azets' acquisition activity in Ireland reflects broader consolidation trends in the Irish accountancy market, where mid-tier firms are increasingly building scale through targeted sector-specific acquisitions to compete for SME and owner-managed business clients.
