Accountancy and business advisory firm BDO LLP has appointed Dean Chamberlain as a partner in its private equity tax team, where he will focus on private equity fund compliance and contribute to the development of the firm's fund compliance services, as reported by the International Accounting Bulletin. Chamberlain joins from PricewaterhouseCoopers, bringing more than a decade of experience working with alternative investment funds in the financial services sector.

The appointment follows BDO LLP's completion of its merger between BDO UK and BDO Ireland on 4 July 2026, which created a single entity with annual revenue of close to £1.1bn (approximately $1.4bn/€1.28bn), a workforce of around 8,500 and approximately 500 partners. BDO LLP now serves as the member firm representing both the UK and Ireland within the BDO Global network.

Louise Sayers, head of people, culture and purpose at BDO, said Chamberlain brings a wealth of specialist tax experience to the firm and added: "His appointment, and that of Al Milne last month, demonstrates our continued commitment to providing our clients with a vast array of deep technical expertise and exceptional service they have come to expect from us, particularly as they continue to operate in an increasingly complex regulatory environment."

The reference to Al Milne's appointment the previous month indicates that BDO LLP is sustaining a consistent pace of senior hiring into specialist tax roles as the newly merged entity builds out its service offering across the UK and Ireland. The private equity tax practice sits at the intersection of two areas of growing complexity, fund compliance and alternative investment structures, where demand for specialist advisory support has increased as regulatory requirements across both markets continue to evolve.

BDO LLP is part of the BDO Global network, which delivers business advisory services across 169 countries and territories, employing 95,000 people across 870 offices. The network's global scale provides BDO LLP with access to cross-border expertise relevant to private equity clients operating across multiple jurisdictions, an increasingly important capability as fund structures grow in complexity and international regulatory scrutiny intensifies.

For Irish finance professionals, the appointment is significant in the context of the recently completed merger, which has expanded the range of specialist expertise available to BDO's Irish client base through the combined UK and Ireland platform, particularly in areas such as private equity taxation and alternative investment fund compliance where demand continues to grow.
