Chartered accountant and SME specialist Cormac Fitzgerald FCPA FCA has been appointed to the board and national council of the Irish SME Association (ISME), the independent body representing Ireland's small and medium business sector.
Business Plus reported that Fitzgerald, principal of Kinsale-based accounting firm Fitzgerald and Partners, brings 26 years of experience advising owner-managed businesses on taxation, corporate governance, restructuring, and strategic growth.
ISME said the appointment reflects its commitment to trusted business leadership and practical expertise drawn directly from working with indigenous Irish enterprises.

He is currently planning a further publication focused on the evolving challenges and opportunities facing Irish SMEs.
Commenting on his appointment, Fitzgerald said: "I am honoured to join the Board and National Council of ISME. I have always been passionate about the SME sector, and the vital role owner-managed businesses play in the Irish economy."
He added: "My professional focus has been on supporting SMEs, and I look forward to contributing to ISME's work in advocating for practical policies and strong supports for small and medium-sized businesses."
Fitzgerald works with entrepreneurs and growing companies across Ireland, providing strategic business advice, governance support, and long-term planning tailored to SME needs.
