Grant Thornton Advisors has appointed Steve Tennant as chief executive for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), marking another step in the firm’s rapid global expansion. Tennant will continue to serve as CEO of Grant Thornton Ireland, while also joining the executive committee of Grant Thornton Advisors, reporting directly to New York–based CEO Jim Peko.
The appointment comes on the heels of a wave of mergers and acquisitions across Europe, the Middle East, and the Cayman Islands. Supported by private equity firm New Mountain Capital, these deals have accelerated the integration of Grant Thornton’s international operations.
Since the merger of Grant Thornton US and Ireland earlier this year, the firm has expanded its footprint through strategic acquisitions in France, Spain, Belgium, the UAE, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, the Cayman Islands, and the Channel Islands.
Tennant, who joined Grant Thornton Ireland in 2009 and became a partner in 2012, previously worked at Baker Tilly UK. He brings extensive experience in managing cross-border teams and leading transformation within the professional services sector. His focus will be on strengthening collaboration across the firm’s regional markets, driving innovation, and building new capabilities to meet evolving client expectations.
He said the recent growth reflects a changing professional services landscape, where clients increasingly seek integrated advisory solutions delivered through unified, technology-driven networks.
Grant Thornton Advisors continues to operate within the Grant Thornton International network, which now spans more than 150 markets worldwide.
