HW Fisher, part of Sumer Group, has acquired north London accountancy Fisher Phillips, which will adopt the HW Fisher brand, a deal that matters broadly because it adds another practice to one of the UK's most active accountancy consolidators, and matters specifically to accountancy professionals because it deepens rather than diversifies HW Fisher's existing specialism in authors, entertainers and other creative-industry clients, a niche both firms already served independently.

HW Fisher is a London-founded, Top 30 UK chartered accountancy firm established in 1933, part of the Sumer Group since 2024, employing around 300 staff and 26 partners with established specialisms in authors and journalists, entertainment, media, sport and royalty auditing.

Fisher Phillips is a north London chartered accountancy founded in 1946, providing accounting, tax and probate services to individuals and businesses including authors, entertainers, professional practices and property companies.

HW Fisher managing partner Andrew Rich said the Fisher Phillips team were a "natural fit for our firm," bringing complementary sector specialisms and deep service strengths to the combined practice.

That fit is unusually direct for a consolidation deal. Most acquisitions covered in this vertical add a new specialism to a buyer's portfolio, but here both firms already served overlapping niche clients, meaning the deal consolidates market share within an existing specialism rather than diversifying into a new one.

HW Fisher's creative-industries credentials extend beyond client lists into sector involvement, including board positions with the Crime Writers Association and the Society of Authors, giving the combined firm deeper standing with exactly the client base Fisher Phillips brings across.

The deal also confirms HW Fisher's role as one of several regional hub firms through which Sumer Group grows, following a similar pattern already visible at Sumer's Scottish hub, EQ Chartered Accountants.

For the sector, the deal has a direct island-of-Ireland dimension too: Sumer Group's network already includes Sumer Accountants NI Limited, regulated by Chartered Accountants Ireland, extending the same federated growth model behind this London deal onto the island.
