Lauded for its corporate practices last year, KPMG was named winner of CSR Initiative of the Year at the Irish Accountancy Awards 2025, recognised for its innovative Books for Birdies programme, which blends sport, literacy, and social impact to support disadvantaged children across Ireland.
The initiative, launched in collaboration with Irish golfer Leona Maguire and Children’s Books Ireland, donates a book to a local school for every birdie scored at the Women’s Irish Open. Since 2023, the programme has contributed over 4,000 books, inspiring young readers while encouraging participation in sport and highlighting positive female role models.
Judges praised the campaign for its creativity, alignment with KPMG’s broader CSR strategy, and tangible societal impact.
“KPMG’s Books for Birdies initiative is a standout example of how corporate social responsibility can be engaging, measurable, and meaningful. By combining sport, literacy, and community engagement, the programme creates positive outcomes for children while reflecting thoughtful organisational purpose,” the panel said.
The recognition reflects the evolving standards within the Irish Accountancy Awards, where winners are increasingly distinguished by initiatives that integrate strategic intent, creativity, and measurable impact. KPMG’s achievement illustrates how thoughtful CSR programmes can inspire communities, strengthen organisational culture, and set benchmarks for industry-wide responsibility.
With momentum from 2025’s winners, attention now turns to the 2026 awards cycle, where organisations are expected to continue raising standards in innovative, impactful, and socially responsible initiatives.
Entries for the Irish Accountancy Awards 2026 are held until 30 January 2026, with finalists announced on 19 March and the awards gala taking place on 21 May 2026 at the Royal Dublin Convention Centre.
