NFP Ireland, the Irish operation of New York-based professional services and insurance group NFP, an Aon company, has completed the acquisition of Metis Ireland, a Limerick-founded financial planning and investment advisory firm regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland and managing approximately €700m in client assets.
Coverager reported that Metis Ireland managing director Carl Widger will join NFP as head of Wealth and Financial Planning for NFP in Ireland, reporting to Colm Power, managing director of NFP in Ireland. The deal is reported to value Metis at approximately €15m.
Established in 2014, Metis Ireland provides tailored financial planning, investment solutions, and wealth structuring to private clients, executives, and business owners from offices in Limerick and Dublin. The firm was previously part-owned by Davy until management and staff bought back the holding in 2023.
Power said the acquisition is a significant step for NFP, and that Metis Ireland's capabilities, focus on long-term planning, and commitment to client outcomes align with NFP's client-first vision.
Widger said joining NFP will provide clients with enhanced scale and greater access to specialist wealth resources, adding that both firms share a common philosophy of honest and objective financial planning, ensuring that clients' goals, ambitions, and long-term priorities remain central to every decision.
The acquisition follows NFP Ireland's earlier deals for The HR Suite, Orca Financial Group, and HC Financial, as part of its long-term growth in wealth management and employee benefits services. NFP entered the Irish market in 2020 through the purchase of HMP Insurance and Pension Advisors and has since completed ten acquisitions in the market.
The deal reflects sustained consolidation activity within Ireland's private wealth and financial planning sector, where scale and specialist capability are increasingly decisive competitive factors.
