Queen’s University Belfast has introduced a graduate trainee programme in collaboration with Chartered Accountants Ireland (CAI). The programme offers graduates the opportunity to gain practical experience within the university’s Finance Directorate while pursuing a chartered accountancy qualification.
Trainees will rotate across finance functions, building technical expertise, commercial insight, and professional skills essential for careers in accountancy. The initiative also provides mentorship and structured guidance from CAI professionals, supporting the development of well-rounded finance professionals ready to meet industry demands.
The first cohort includes graduates Laura McCullough, Zoe Taylor, Nicole Woods, and Hannah Wylie, who will work closely with senior finance leaders, including Patrick Anderson, Vice-President and Chief Finance and Resources Officer, and Director of Finance Matthew Graham. CAI’s team, led by Executive Head of Global Engagement Zara Duffy, will provide ongoing professional development and training.
The programme reflects growing demand for structured pathways that combine formal qualifications with practical experience, preparing graduates to contribute effectively in complex finance roles.
