Sumer Northern Ireland has promoted three senior professionals across its Innovation Tax Relief and Forensic Accounting divisions as the Belfast-based accountancy firm continues its expansion. The appointments follow a 20 per cent increase in headcount since the practice joined mid-market firm Sumer Group nearly two years ago, bringing total staff to 120.
According to insidermedia, the Innovation Tax Relief team, which leads the group's R&D and Patent Box service delivery across the UK, has appointed Dr Phil Chambers as associate partner and Adam Stuart as senior manager. Dr Chambers brings experience from the pharmaceutical, aerospace, and software sectors, whilst Stuart specialises in software and information technology.
In the Forensic Accounting department, Aoife Morgan has been promoted to associate partner following more than four years with the firm. A Fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland, Morgan specialises in quantifying claims for loss of earnings, pensions, and other losses arising from personal injury, medical negligence, or dependency claims.
Brian Clerkin, managing partner at Sumer Northern Ireland, said: "These appointments are a clear reflection of the calibre of our staff, alongside the sustained growth we are seeing across the firm and increasing demand from the marketplace."
He added: "At Sumer Northern Ireland we place great emphasis on nurturing talent and creating clear pathways for progression. We're committed to investing in our people and in supporting them to develop deep technical expertise while building long-term careers within the firm."
The promotions strengthen Sumer Northern Ireland's specialist capabilities as the firm focuses on supporting ambitious SME clients across Northern Ireland and the UK through innovation tax reliefs and forensic accounting services.
