Uisce Éireann won Transformation Project of the Year at the Irish Accountancy Awards 2025 early last year, recognised for the successful delivery of its Transforming Water Services Payroll initiative. The project was celebrated for its scale, complexity, and the team’s ability to modernise payroll operations while maintaining service continuity across a national organisation.
The transformation saw Uisce Éireann’s payroll team integrate 31 Local Authority payroll systems into a single, unified platform. Through automation and close cross-functional collaboration, the team navigated significant operational and organisational challenges to deliver a more efficient, accurate, and streamlined payroll system. The outcome included improved processes, enhanced employee experience, and a future-ready payroll function capable of supporting the organisation’s long-term needs.
“Uisce Éireann showcased a major, high-impact project with far-reaching results. Strong testimonials and a well-articulated results section demonstrated the real-world impact on internal stakeholders. The clarity brought to such a complex transformation, alongside the thoughtful explanation of team dynamics and challenges, made this a very impressive and worthy winner,” the judging panel said.
The award underscores the rising standards within the Irish Accountancy Awards, where winners are increasingly distinguished by their ability to combine operational rigour, innovation, and measurable impact. Uisce Éireann’s achievement establishes a benchmark for large-scale transformation projects that prioritise efficiency, collaboration, and stakeholder outcomes.
With momentum building from the 2025 winners, attention now turns to the Irish Accountancy Awards 2026, where entrants are expected to continue raising the bar for transformation excellence, digital innovation, and value-driven finance and payroll services.
Entries are open until 30 January 2026, with finalists to be announced on 19 March 2026. The awards gala will take place on 21 May 2026 at the Royal Dublin Convention Centre.
