Glasgow-based VAT and indirect tax advisory firm VITA has launched VITA Pulse, a new information resource aimed at upskilling the UK accountancy profession on VAT, one of the UK's most significant taxes, and improving technical awareness across firms that currently lack specialist expertise in the area.
Scottish Financial News reported that the initiative follows VITA's earlier CBAM Compass, an explainer on the UK's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, and forms part of the firm's broader commitment to cascading deep technical VAT knowledge across the profession.
VAT raises around £180bn (€209bn) annually in the UK, accounting for between 14% and 17% of total tax receipts, yet many of the UK's 40,000 VAT-registered accounting businesses carry no specialist expertise in the tax.
VITA Pulse will be delivered as a free resource through LinkedIn posts, videos, and an e-newsletter, with paid subscription tiers also available, including Essential VAT Support, which provides direct access to VITA experts, and Expert VAT Guidance for more complex projects.
Greg McNally, partner at VITA, said: "Following the success of the CBAM Compass, we have been keen to do what we can to help build and enhance the VAT sector within the profession and highlight red-flag areas."
McNally added: "The aim is to lift standards across the board, and VITA Pulse intends to create an accounting club which will help members to identify issues which could have major implications for clients and resolve them in an efficient and cost-effective way."
VITA, founded in 2019, has already established a substantial portfolio of accountancy firms as clients and expects to grow this significantly as a result of its information campaigns.
